In this report, we share in detail the number of vacancies and Seats in Rashtriya Military Schools for intake in class 6 and class 9 for both Boys and Girls. The scheduled date for RMS CET 2026 is 13 Dec 2026 for admission in the academic year 2027-28.
Broad classification of seats in Rashtriya Military Schools
There are Four levels of reservation or classification of seats for admission in Rashtriya Military Schools.

Seats in Rashtriya Military Schools : Type 1 Category wise
(a) 70% of total seats for wards of JCOs/OR of Army , Navy and AF ( including Ex servicemen) .
(b) 20% of total seats for wards of Officers of Army, Navy and AF (including retired Officers).
(c) 10% of total seats for wards of Civilians.
Seats in Rashtriya Military Schools : Type 2 Reservation as per Govt of India policy
Out of the above mentioned category “Type 1 Category wise”, there is further reservation in each category in following manner:
OBC NCL – 27%
SC – 15%
ST – 7.5%
For example, out of the total seats: 70% are reserved for wards of JCOs/OR. Among these 70% of reserved seats there is further reservation for candidates as per their applicable category like OBC, SC, ST.
Seats in Rashtriya Military Schools : Type 3 Reservation in Killed in Action (KIA) candidates
For class 6 admission, 50 seats every year are reserved for wards of service personnel Killed in Action. A similar seat mechanism exists for class 9 admission as well.
Seats in Rashtriya Military Schools : Type 4 Reservation for Girls
Class 6 : 10% seats or max 30 seats whichever is less (put together in all 05 RMSs) of total seats declared for current Rashtriya Military School CET.
Class 9 : 10% seats (put together in all 05 RMSs) of total seats declared for current Rashtriya Military School CET.
Educational Qualification for Admission in RMS
Class 6: Candidate must have passed Class V from a govt/recognised school before the date of admission. Students studying in Class 5 / Class 6 are also eligible to appear in the entrance test for Class VI.
Class 9: Candidate must have passed Class VIII from a govt/recognised school before the date of admission. Students studying in Class 8 / Class 9 are also eligible to appear in the entrance test for Class IX.
