Change 1: Age Eligibility

RIMC Dehradun conducts its written exam twice per year i.e. Every June & December for entry in Class 8. Earlier candidates (both Boys & Girls) whose age ranges from 11.5 years to 13 years at the time of application were eligible to appear in the written exam.

But starting with December 2026 written exam, candidates (both Boys & Girls) whose age ranges from 12.5 years to 14 years at the time of application will be eligible to appear in the written exam.

In accordance with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and to streamline the admission process, the following changes shall come into effect from the RIMC Entrance Examination scheduled in December 2026 for admission to the July 2027 Term.

Change 2: Offline Application to Online Registration

With National Testing Agency taking over the process of organising the RIMC Dehradun written exam, larger ambiguity looms over in candidates minds. As per limited information made available on the official website, Candidates can “Register online through the National Testing Agency (NTA) Portal. You can complete the online application and upload the prescribed documents within the stipulated timelines”.

Earlier candidates used to pay Rs 700 on official website for prospectus (which contained application form & information booklet), but moving forward “No hard copy of the application form is required to be submitted“.

Change 3: Prospectus & Previous year exam papers booklet

Now that the RIMC Dehradun application process is moving to online mode, how does a candidate obtain prospectus and Previous year exam papers booklet? It is mentioned in latest notice that
However, welcome package including (PYQP) previous year QPs can be purchased from RIMC by applicants which shall be despatched by post.” Further clarity on this is awaited.

Change 4: Exam Centre

Since NTA is taking over the conduct of RIMC Dehradun written exam, there is likelihood of changes in the locations of exam centres. Earlier, exam centres were hosted in a given state’s capital. (The written examination shall be conducted at designated NTA Examination Centres across the country.)

There is a possibility that RIMC might move away from its written exam to an MCQ based exam as NTA specialises in exams primarily conducted on an OMR sheet.
