This 15 July, We celebrated a milestone. Arrival of a dream. The 10th Founder’s day of Dabad Academy. We celebrated the journey of an organisation & its people, who have dedicated themselves to the cause of providing absolutely first class education to its pupils.
To add fervour to the celebration, we had the gracious presence of General Deepak Kapoor, 23rd Chief of the Army Staff as the chief Guest on this day.
General Deepak Kapoor is a towering personality. He got commissioned in the Indian Army at an age of 19.3 years and served the nation for an extraordinary 43 years in the Uniform. General Kapoor is an alumnus of Sainik School Kunjpura and NDA Khadakwasla. He culminated his service at the absolute pinnacle of military service: As the COAS of the Indian army and Chairman of Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC).
At Dabad Academy’s 10th Founder’s day, rather than deliver a ceremonial address, General Kapoor chose something far more valuable. He shared his convictions in a class setting. He shared his life stories in a heart to heart conversation with the eager students and narrated never-told-before incidents which shaped his world view as a student & as an young officer.
Two of his tales left a vivid impression on students: Firstly, his experience of trying to cross a river while training at NDA Khadakwasla and secondly, his tryst with international sensitive affairs as a Brigadier in 1996.
He proclaimed to the young students, quoting his experiences from his boyhood and eventually as a father, that for any parent, the deepest wish is that his children surpass them in worldly achievements. “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” ” Isaac Newton wrote in 1675. True statement in every sense from the perspective of the young students at Dabad Academy.
Our Director and academic staff paid their deepest regards to the former COAS – an intellectual and a true patriot, who carved out his precious time and facilitated us with a memory which will be cherished for a lifetime.
As Dabad Academy enters its second decade, we hope to continue building an institution where we impart prized virtues of character, rigorous learning and fine judgement to our Students.
